What is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy?
A Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) is a financial professional with advanced training from The American College of Financial Services, specializing in integrating charitable giving with clients' overall financial, estate, and legacy planning to maximize both personal goals and societal impact. CAPs help individuals and families strategically plan significant gifts, use tax-efficient giving strategies, and build lasting legacies, often working with attorneys, accountants, and nonprofits.
What they do:
Holistic Planning: They connect a client's financial plans (investments, taxes, estate) with their philanthropic aspirations.
Charitable Strategies: They advise on the best tax tools and techniques for charitable giving, from small gifts to major legacy gifts.
Legacy Building: They help clients articulate and achieve their vision for giving to family, community, and society.
Collaboration: They work with the client's team (attorneys, accountants) and with non-profits to coordinate planned giving efforts.
